St Josephs visit 2016
It was a marvelous summer’s day last Saturday when a 180 strong contingent from London’s St. Josephs football club arrived at clondegad’s pitch to enjoy a field day and contest games from u6 to u16s.
Games began immediately to a tight schedule and progressed up through the age groups with fine play from both sides. St Joseph’s proved to be a well-trained and committed squad who provided us with a very entertaining day across all age groups. But it was a day for the entire family with a myriad of home baking, sandwiches, teas and coffee available in the hospitality area not to mention the finest barbecued food available from 11am and all this played out to some background music.
It was hard to pick a highlight from the day with a championship winning St. Josephs u16 team competing with clondegads finest U16s or was it the parade behind the Ennis brass band who circled the field with some 160+ players, mentors and Michael Fitz in tow.
Whatever the highlight however it may be a while before Clondegad can host a blitz with opposition from abroad, speeches from a Government Minister , players receiving encouragement from a county football captain and Ennis brass band on duty to top it off.
